⬤ Fresh survey data from Epoch AI shows just how deeply AI tools have worked their way into everyday American life. The research group teamed up with Blue Rose Research to poll 5,660 Americans over the past month, asking what AI services they'd used in the previous seven days. The results paint a clear picture: AI isn't just a tech buzzword anymore—it's something most people are actually using.
⬤ ChatGPT leads the pack by a comfortable margin. 35% of respondents said they'd used it in the past week, making it the most popular AI platform in the country. Google's Gemini came in second at 24%, while Meta AI grabbed 13% of weekly users. Still, about 45% of people said they hadn't used any AI service at all during that week. Since respondents could pick multiple platforms, the percentages add up to more than 100%.
⬤ After the big three, usage drops off sharply. Copilot sits in the low double digits, while Grok, Perplexity, Claude, Character AI, DeepSeek, and Replika all landed in single-digit territory. The survey focused on registered U.S. voters and tracked actual recent activity—not just who's downloaded an app or created an account at some point.
⬤ What stands out here is the split: AI has clearly gone mainstream for a big chunk of Americans, but it's not universal yet. ChatGPT's dominance shows how quickly one or two platforms can capture most of the market, even while nearly half the population still isn't touching these tools on a regular basis. The data captures a moment when AI is moving from novelty to routine for millions of people, while the competitive landscape continues to shake out.
