⬤ Fresh Similarweb data shows AI chatbot usage is spreading well beyond its original young user base. Back in 2023, the 18-34 age group made up 61% of all AI traffic. By 2025, that number dropped to 53%. The shift signals that AI tools are becoming mainstream across different generations.
⬤ The 18-24 segment fell from 28% to 23%, while the 25-34 group slipped from 33% to 30%. The 35-44 bracket stayed relatively flat, moving slightly from 18% to 19%. These numbers show AI adoption is evening out rather than staying concentrated among tech-savvy younger users.
⬤ Older users drove the biggest changes. The 45-54 age group climbed from 11% to 14%, and those 55+ jumped from 9% to 14%. Combined, users 45 and above now represent nearly 30% of global AI chatbot activity. This expansion shows AI is becoming a daily tool even for demographics that typically adopt new tech more slowly.
⬤ This demographic broadening matters because it marks AI's transition from early adoption to mature, sustainable growth. As older generations integrate AI into everyday workflows, the technology's long-term staying power across the digital economy looks increasingly solid.
