⬤ Similarweb's latest traffic analysis shows how different AI platforms are performing when it comes to attracting fresh faces. The firm tracks "new users" as visitors who haven't dropped by a site in at least three months, giving a clear picture of which platforms are pulling in genuinely new or long-absent audiences. The comparison includes ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, DeepSeek, and Claude.
⬤ November 2025 belonged to Grok. The platform's new-user ratio shot past Gemini, Perplexity, and ChatGPT that month, meaning a bigger chunk of its traffic came from first-timers or people coming back after a break. Gemini had peaked earlier before sliding down, while Perplexity dropped off after a strong October. ChatGPT consistently trailed the pack throughout the period.
⬤ Zoom out to six months, though, and Perplexity takes the crown for the highest average new-user ratio. Despite losing the November sprint, it's been steadily effective at drawing in new visitors over time. Grok and Gemini bounced around more month-to-month, while Claude and DeepSeek held steady at lower levels. ChatGPT's position at the bottom makes sense—it's already massive, so growth comes more from people coming back rather than discovering it for the first time.
⬤ The numbers highlight how platforms at different life stages compete for attention. For Alphabet (GOOGL), Gemini's up-and-down new-user numbers show it's still fighting for momentum against newer entrants. Across the board, the data underscores a key tension in the AI race: balancing the hunt for new users with keeping existing ones engaged.
